Meza Yetu Collective’s work lives at the intersection of feminist storytelling, data, and production

Each campaign starts from the same premise: the evidence exists, the stories have been told, but the systems that should listen are not structured to hear. Our projects move from counternarratives to counterevidence, using participatory research, digital media, and advocacy to make gendered harm visible and actionable.

We Were Not Taught

An intergenerational storytelling campaign that examines the silences women and girls inherit across different parts of life, and how those silences shape their choices, safety, health, relationships, care responsibilities, and sense of self.

The Period In Between

A puberty and menstruation campaign rooted in community workshops in Mathare and Kibera, challenging silence and shame around young women’s bodies.

Unmothering The Woman

A campaign that challenged the narratives imposed on women in Kenya through storytelling, community engagement, and digital advocacy.

Un-mothering the Woman (UTW) is a feminist storytelling movement aimed at dismantling stereotypes peddled by societies against women. Aside from religious and cultural ideals that cloud the pursuit of equality for women, society has created images of what and how a woman should look and behave. The unfounded standards set for women have actively worked against the realisation of rights and agency for most women.
